For more than four decades, Banner Behavioral Health has provided 24/7 crisis intervention and therapeutic services in a medically safe, recovery-focused environment. Banner Behavioral Health has 156 licensed inpatient beds and is located in Scottsdale, AZ. Our focus is on adults and adolescents dealing with mental health and/or chemical dependency issues who voluntarily seek help. Our highly skilled and compassionate staff are dedicated to providing a therapeutic healing environment and excellent health care experience.
POSITION SUMMARY
This dual-responsibility position serves as both Chief Medical Officer and Division Medical Director for designated healthcare operations. The role provides overall leadership for medical management, clinical care integration, and patient safety system-wide, while simultaneously overseeing clinical, customer, learning, and financial performance of providers across multiple service lines. This leader guides the development and implementation of medical policies, practices, and clinical programs; ensure clinical quality providers; and implements system clinical quality initiatives in partnership with facility leadership. As a member of both the executive leadership team for designated healthcare operations and clinical leadership teams, this position drives a service-oriented culture focused on employee and provider engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and overall patient experience while building effective collegial relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal operating effectiveness and strategic positioning.


CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Oversees physician engagement, productivity, staffing, recruitment, and monitors physicians for signs of burnout while providing career development, mentorship, performance feedback, and improvement plans.

2. Promotes quality improvement concepts and establishes effective working relationships with physicians and provider stakeholders. Participates in review of qualifications, credentials, performance, and professional competence.

3. Provides clinical oversight and reviews quality data. Works within the leadership model to establish, monitor, and improve aggregate clinical outcomes through care management activities that improve patient safety, reduce variation, and implement evidence-based standards.

4. Strategizes and drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models designed to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and patient safety while promoting a patient-centered, healing environment.

5. Partners closely with operational partners to achieve clinical and operational excellence. Develops cross-disciplinary clinical integration to provide a seamless patient experience and understand market factors that inform strategy and growth opportunities.

6. Functions as an integral member of executive leadership team, building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate, hospital, and medical staff leaders. Serves in an advisory capacity regarding strategic development and implementation of clinical and operational services.

7. Promotes financial stewardship and clinical excellence by allocating financial, information, and human capital for improvement activities. Establishes performance measures and ensures efficient delivery of cost-effective services.

9. Champions service excellence philosophies and behaviors, models a service-oriented culture focused on employee/provider engagement, quality, patient safety, fiscal responsibility, and overall patient experience. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and laws. This position has overall responsibility for the quality and appropriateness of care provided in assigned facility and/or campus. Serves as liaison among facilities, medical staff, medical leadership, external organizations, and contracted payor organizations. Responsible for coordinating services with other administrators, internal legal counsel, executives, and other staff. This position has constant contact with staff members and associates, frequent contact with medical staff leaders and medical staff as well as Banner Health leaders Customers of this position are both internal and external, including leadership, staff, medical staff, regulatory agencies, and the community.
