Job Title: Clean Stock Program Coordinator

Work Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 7:00 AM start for 2–3 days per week; 8:00 AM for remaining workdays

Position Summary:

Nourse Farms is a leading player in the plant propagation industry, known for our commitment to excellence in providing high-quality plant stock. Nourse Farms is seeking a Clean Stock Program Coordinator that will be responsible for overseeing the greenhouse clean stock area and supporting the interface between greenhouse operations and laboratory processes. This hybrid position involves both physical greenhouse work and detailed documentation/data work. It also ensures the accurate collection, tracking, and documentation of plant material for testing, initiation, and ongoing clean stock maintenance. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow and develop standardized procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the clean stock greenhouse area, ensuring sanitary conditions, proper environmental controls, and plant health standards are met.
  • Collect cuttings for clean stock initiation according to schedule and protocol.
  • Harvest plant samples for laboratory testing twice annually. Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and chain-of-custody for all samples.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel to schedule, hand off, and track samples for testing or initiation.
  • Manage and maintain a digital tracking system (database, spreadsheets, or relevant software) to log plant movements, sample collections, initiation batches, and test results.
  • Review data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Identify and rectify inconsistencies or gaps.
  • Develop, write, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for greenhouse clean stock maintenance, sample collection, sanitation, data tracking, and hybrid greenhouse–lab workflows.
  • Train and guide other staff or team members on SOPs, as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with greenhouse, lab, and management staff regarding schedules, sample needs, and status updates.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with institutional, safety, and quality standards.
  • Communicate with government entities and inspectors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Horticultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Plant Science.
  • 2+ years working in a greenhouse, plant production environment, clean stock, or agricultural/laboratory support.
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, and tracking systems
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow detailed procedures
  • Knowledge of clean stock, plant pathology, tissue culture, or sterile technique is a plus (but can be trained).
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and colleagues, and especially for SOP creation.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges
  • High attention to detail and the ability to recognize and observe small deviations.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and be part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
